History of Inverness County
History
is the foundation of a region, the roots of a community, the creation of
ties to the land and the people who make it home. Every region of Canada
has a rich history, passed on from generation to generation through shared
stories and songs. In a time when many think the past and the future are
separate worlds, Inverness County holds true to its heritage and celebrates
the history that has made its people proud, its communities strong and
its future a journey along this same bright path.
The
History of Inverness County Series is taken from the pages of Partici-Paper,
published by the
Inverness County Recreation/Tourism Department. Author and former Partici-Paper
editor, Mary Anne Ducharme relates tales of days gone by and paints a picture
of life in Inverness County for past generations. The history and heritage
of a region influence the way its communities evolve and the stories you
will find here showcase the proud past of this county and its people.
"Musical
Legacy" and
"Celtic Singularity & Acadian Soul" explore
the exciting musical heritage of Inverness County. The diverse influences
of the people who settled this area is apparent in the songs and music
created here. Each cultural group celebrates its individuality and lends
influence
to build a unique musical community. An almost spiritual appreciation
for music and its creators is a trait shared by many in this region of
Canada
and the people of Inverness County are certainly among them.
Museums
The museums of Inverness County not only preserve the area's history but also serve as a means of sharing this heritage with residents and visitors. The Museum Series is taken from the pages of Partici-Paper, published by the Inverness County Recreation/Tourism Department. Author and editor, Mary Anne Ducharme, presents the heritage of Inverness County through her descriptions of the area museums and the stories they tell.
